On this tour you will explore the Lake Titicaca and the Uros Islands. The Uros Islands are a group of man-made floating islands built of totora, a local water plant. The inhabitants of the Uros Islands have been building these islands for centuries, even since before the Inca Empire.
The region surrounding Lake Titicaca have been really important for great part of Peruvian history. Lake Titicaca is considered as the birthplace of the Inca Civilization. According to the Manco Capac Legend, the founders of the Inca Empire came from the waters of this lake. Also, this area was under the control of a pre-Inca civilization known as the Tiahuanaco, responsible for building some of the stone towers, or “Chullpas” that surround the lake.

We’ll be navigating on the waters of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. The weather in Lake Ticaca is dry and cold, so don’t forget to wear warm clothes.
Once we arrive in the Uros Islands, we’ll be greeted by the local inhabitants. These people have been living there for centuries. They’re masters in building rafts and all kinds of utensils from totora, a water plant that grows in the lake’s waters.
