Tour Details

Sillustani is a pre-Inca and Inca cemetery located 34 kilometers from Puno city center. The site is located near the Umayo lagoon.

Sillustani is regarded as one of South America’s most important necropolis. The huge burial towers known as “Chullpas” distinguish Sillustani. The “Chullpas” are stone towers built by different civilizations that inhabited the area, including the Collas and Incas. The “Lizard’s Chullpa,” which stands over 12 meters tall, is the site’s tallest structure.

Itinerary

Sillustani

We’ll pick you up at 14:00 pm from your hotel in Puno. Then, we will drive for around 30 minutes to Sillustani. Once there, our guide will give a tour of the archaeological site. Sillustani is composed by numerous stone towers known as “Chullpas”. These structures served as tombs to the rulers of the area before the Spanish conquest. We’ll also visit the shores of the Umayo Lagoon, which provides beautiful views of the area during sunset.

Afterwards, we’ll visit some nearby local farms. You’ll learn about the local economic activites, such as potato cultivation and alpaca breeding.

Finally, our staff will transfer you back to the city of Puno.
