The Sun Route tour goes through different places located between Cusco and Puno. We will visit the Andahuaylillas temple, the Inca temple of Raqchi, La Raya mountain pass, and the Lithic Museum of Pucara.

Cusco City – Puno City

Our first stop will be at the Andahuaylillas temple, also known as the “The Sistine Chapel of America”. Andahuaylillas stands out for its religious artwork. It was built in the 17th century by the Jesuit catholic order. Be aware that it’s not allowed to take photos or make videos inside the chapel.
Our next stop will be the Inca temple of Raqchi. It was built to worship the Andean god Wiracocha during the rule of the Incas Wiraqocha, Pachacutec and Inca Tupac Yupanqui. The site approximately covers and area of 1000 hectares.
After exploring Raqchi we’ll have a buffet lunch at Sicuani town. This town serves as an intersection point between Puno, Cusco and Arequipa.
La Raya is a mountain pass located at 4335 meters above sea level. It’s the highest point of the Sun Route.
The Lithic Museum of Pucara contains the archaeological remains of the Pucara civilization, which controled the area of northern Lake Titicaca during the 1st century. The museum features stone sculptures and pottery decorated with geometric, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic images.
Finally, after leaving the Lithic Museum of Pucara we’ll be arriving in Puno city around 17:00.
